Cancelled block issue "World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan"
Catalogue number: 272
Issue date: 13-04-2025
The World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai - the world's largest and most important economic and promotional event - will begin on April 13, 2025.
Poland's participation in the event is aimed at strengthening its international image, establishing new economic contacts and promoting Polish science, culture and tourism. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency, under the supervision of the Ministry of Development and Technology, is responsible for the project.
The stamp shows a visualization of the Polish Pavilion.
In the graphic of the FDC envelope the keynote of the Polish presence at the Expo: Poland. Heritage that drives the future and floral elements.
In the graphic of the postmark - referring to the architecture of the block of the Polish Pavilion as seen from a bird's eye view - "waves of creativity", which is one of the guiding graphics of the Polish presence at the Expo.
The arena for the country's presentation will be the Polish Pavilion with an area of nearly 1,000 m2. The architecture of the pavilion represents the main slogan telling the story of the creativity gene of Poles and its value for the future of societies.
The Polish Pavilion will be located near the Water Zone, belonging to one of the sub-themes of the Exhibition, which is Saving Lives. The architectural design is based on the use of wood, and has an organic form thanks to curves and arches. The form of the block is meant to evoke the association of the spreading wave of creativity and innovation of Poles - borders do not stand in the way of innovative ideas spreading far and influencing distant areas, and knowledge gained abroad returning to the gravitational center of the nation.
The design of the expressive wooden facade, built using the traditional Kigumi Koho wood joining technique, is a nod to Polish and Japanese traditional architecture. The pavilion is intended to be accessible to different audiences and to be free of barriers.
A companion to the multifaceted journey through the exposition of the Polish Pavilion will be the figure of Frederic Chopin. You will also be able to listen to the works of the prominent Polish composer during planned cyclical piano recitals in the Pavilion's concert hall.
A Polish-Spanish duo - Alicja Kubicka and Borja Mart nez - is responsible for developing the architectural concept.
The issue was created in close cooperation and on the basis of graphic materials from the Applicant - the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.
