Poland 1989 – 45th Anniversary of the Arnhem Airborne Landing – 4 Stamps with Sheet Inscription (MNH)

This set consists of 4 mint never hinged (MNH) postage stamps issued in 1989 to commemorate the 45th anniversary of the Arnhem airborne landing (1944–1989). The stamps originate from the top section of the sheet and retain the original sheet inscription, making the set more attractive to collectors than individual stamps.

The issue commemorates the Polish Armed Forces in the West and the participation of the 1st Independent Polish Parachute Brigade in Operation Market Garden during World War II.

The stamp design features:

• a portrait of General Stanisław Sosabowski, commander of the 1st Independent Polish Parachute Brigade,
• a tactical situation sketch of the Arnhem area showing military movements,
• the inscription “Arnhem Landing 1944”.

The upper sheet margin includes the inscription:

“Polish Armed Forces in the West – 45th Anniversary of the Arnhem Landing”

which further emphasizes the historical significance of the issue.
