       Postage Stamp Day

The philatelic issue “Postage Stamp Day” pays tribute to the history of postal services, philately and the remarkable role that postage stamps have played in communication for nearly two centuries. Although small in size, a postage stamp has become not only proof of postal payment but also a carrier of history, culture, art and national identity.

The history of the modern postage stamp began in Great Britain on 6 May 1840, when the Penny Black, the world's first postage stamp, was introduced. This event marked the beginning of a new era in the history of postal communications.

The history of Polish philately began on 1 January 1860, when the first Polish postage stamp, known today as “Poland No. 1”, was issued in the Kingdom of Poland. Today it is regarded as one of the most valuable and recognizable objects of Polish philately. The issue was designed by Agnieszka Sancewicz based on materials from the collections of the Museum of Post and Telecommunications in Wrocław.

The central element of the souvenir sheet is a stamp depicting a historic horse-drawn mail coach carrying postal correspondence. The composition recalls the era when letters travelled along postal routes by stagecoach, requiring the work of postal couriers, postilions and a well-organized network of postal stations. The scene commemorates one of the most important stages in the development of postal services, when the speed of communication depended on transport efficiency and the dedication of postal workers. It symbolizes the beginnings of the modern communication system that later evolved together with advances in technology and transportation.

The souvenir sheet presents a rich iconographic composition devoted to postal history and philately. The design incorporates historical illustrations from the collections of the Museum of Post and Telecommunications in Wrocław, showing various aspects of postal operations throughout the centuries. The illustrations include:

🐎 Mail Courier on a Postal Road

📬 Letter Post Service

🚆 Interior and Employees of a French Postal Railway Car

🎺 Postilion

The composition is complemented by historic postal objects:

🎺 Postal Horn

One of the most recognizable symbols of traditional postal services, used by postilions to announce the arrival of mail coaches.

👜 Letter Carrier's Mailbag

A tribute to generations of postal workers delivering correspondence to towns and villages.

🏅 Golden Urban Postman's Badge

A symbol of dedication and service in the postal profession.

💌 Silver Stamp Case

A special collectible item created to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the discovery of America, highlighting the cultural and collecting traditions associated with postage stamps.

For more than 180 years, postage stamps have accompanied major historical, social and cultural events. They document: historical milestones, scientific and technological achievements, art and architecture, distinguished individuals, natural and cultural heritage. As a result, stamps are not only postal documents but also unique records of human history and national identity.

Polish Post extends its sincere gratitude to the Museum of Post and Telecommunications in Wrocław for providing the graphic materials used in the preparation of the “Postage Stamp Day” issue. The museum's collections made it possible to create a design presenting the rich history of postal services and philatelic traditions.

Special collectible editions accompanying the issue will be introduced at a later date.

The 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski (1926–2010)

In 2026, the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski (1926–2010) is commemorated. He was an outstanding scholar of public international law, a diplomat, the first Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Third Republic of Poland, and an international judge.

To mark this anniversary, Polish Post issued a philatelic release honoring a man who played a fundamental role in shaping the foreign policy of democratic Poland after 1989 and helped establish the country's place in a new and united Europe.

The issue pays tribute to one of the most distinguished Polish diplomats of the twentieth century, whose expertise, prudence and determination contributed significantly to strengthening Poland’s international position.

The stamp features a portrait of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski, based on a photograph depicting one of the key figures of Polish diplomacy during the political transformation period. The portrait emphasizes his authority as a scholar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and architect of Poland’s modern foreign policy.

The sheet consists of 20 postage stamps arranged in a 5 × 4 layout. The repeated portrait symbolizes the enduring significance of Professor Skubiszewski’s achievements and his lasting contribution to modern Polish history. The elegant and restrained design focuses attention on the Professor and his role in rebuilding Poland’s international standing after the restoration of full sovereignty. The color palette of deep blue, burgundy and brown tones gives the issue a dignified and commemorative character.

The First Day Cover features a photograph of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski presented from a different perspective than that used on the stamp. The design highlights the personal dimension of the issue and presents the Professor as a scholar, diplomat and statesman. The commemorative postmark incorporates the facsimile signature of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski, symbolizing his personal contribution to shaping the foreign policy of a free and democratic Poland.

Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski was a renowned specialist in public international law and one of the principal architects of Poland’s foreign policy after 1989. On 12 September 1989, he became Minister of Foreign Affairs in the government of Tadeusz Mazowiecki. He continued to serve in the governments of: Jan Krzysztof Bielecki, Jan Olszewski, Hanna Suchocka. His term coincided with the crucial years of Poland’s return to the international community after the fall of communism.

Professor Skubiszewski consistently worked to establish stable and constructive relations between Poland and its neighbors, particularly Germany. Among his major achievements were: securing international recognition of Poland’s western border, strengthening cooperation with Western European countries, enhancing Poland’s position in international organizations, contributing to the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Polish territory. His work laid the foundations of modern Polish diplomacy.

One of Professor Skubiszewski’s primary objectives was the integration of Poland into European and transatlantic institutions. On 26 November 1991, he signed the European Convention on Human Rights, paving the way for Poland's admission to the Council of Europe on 19 January 1993. On 28 July 1993, he signed in Warsaw the Concordat between the Republic of Poland and the Holy See. His diplomatic efforts strengthened Poland’s position as a democratic state committed to international law and human rights.

After leaving government office, Professor Skubiszewski continued his distinguished international career. In 1994 he became:

  • President of the Iran–United States Claims Tribunal,
  • ad hoc Judge of the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

These appointments reflected the high esteem in which he was held within the international legal community. A lesser-known but fascinating aspect of Professor Skubiszewski’s biography was his interest in philately. Krzysztof Skubiszewski was an enthusiastic stamp collector, making this issue especially symbolic. The commemorative stamp honors not only a distinguished statesman but also someone who personally appreciated the world of philately.

Polish Post sincerely thanks the following individuals for their assistance in the preparation of the philatelic issue “100th Anniversary of the Birth of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski (1926–2010)”:

• the family of Professor Krzysztof Skubiszewski: Mr. Piotr Skubiszewski, Mr. Marcin Skubiszewski,

The 100th Anniversary of Polish State Railways

The year 2026 has been designated by the Polish Parliament as the Year of Polish Railways, marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Polish State Railways (PKP) on 24 September 1926, following a decree issued by President Ignacy Mościcki.

To commemorate this milestone, Polish Post has issued the stamp block “100th Anniversary of the Establishment of Polish State Railways”, illustrating the development of rail transport in Poland from the interwar period to the present day. The issue presents four iconic railway vehicles representing successive stages of modernization and technological progress. All designs were prepared in consultation with and approved by Polish State Railways S.A. (PKP).

The block consists of four postage stamps, each depicting a railway vehicle representing a different era in the history of Polish rail transport.

🚄 Lux-Torpeda

The first stamp features the famous Lux-Torpeda, one of the most advanced rail vehicles of the interwar period. Introduced in the 1930s, it was renowned for its modern engineering, speed and passenger comfort. It became a symbol of innovation and the modernization ambitions of the Second Polish Republic.

🚂 Intercity Nieśpieszny (ICN)

The second stamp presents the Intercity Nieśpieszny (ICN) train set, recalling traditional long-distance passenger trains hauled by electric locomotives. The motif reflects the period of rapid development of national passenger services and the key role of railways in Poland during the second half of the twentieth century.

⚡ EU160 Griffin

The third stamp depicts the EU160 Griffin electric locomotive, one of the most modern locomotives currently operated by PKP Intercity. Designed and manufactured in Poland, it symbolizes the growth of domestic railway technology and the ongoing modernization of rail transport.

🚅 ED250 Pendolino

The fourth stamp shows the ED250 Pendolino, a symbol of high-speed rail services in Poland. Its introduction significantly reduced travel times between major cities and marked a new chapter in the development of modern passenger transport. The block forms a visual journey through one hundred years of railway history. Each stamp is set against a landscape matching the character of the featured vehicle:

❄️ mountain scenery and a historic atmosphere for the Lux-Torpeda,

🌳 traditional railway infrastructure for the Intercity Nieśpieszny,

🌾 contemporary railway routes for the EU160 Griffin,

🏙️ a modern railway station environment for the Pendolino.

Together, the designs present a symbolic overview of Polish railways from pioneering interwar engineering to twenty-first-century solutions. The FDC designs use the same railway themes as the stamps, presented from different perspectives and in wider compositions. Each cover highlights one of the railway vehicles featured in the issue and emphasizes its importance in the history of rail transport in Poland. The commemorative postmark incorporates the official logo of the 100th anniversary celebrations of Polish State Railways, creating a unified visual identity for the entire issue.

Since its establishment in 1926, PKP has played a fundamental role in Poland’s economic, social and transport development. For a century, the railway network has: connected regions across the country, supported industry and trade, enabled the mobility of millions of passengers, contributed to the modernization of national transport infrastructure. This issue commemorates both the history of Polish railways and their continuing importance to modern Poland.

50th Anniversary of the Founding of the Workers' Defense Committee (KOR)

On 23 September 2026, exactly on the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Workers' Defense Committee (KOR), Polish Post issued a philatelic commemorative release dedicated to one of the most important milestones in the history of Poland’s democratic opposition. The Workers' Defense Committee was founded in 1976 in response to the repression directed against participants of the June 1976 workers' protests in Radom, Ursus and Płock. KOR organized legal, financial and social assistance for persecuted workers and their families, becoming one of the most significant examples of independent civic activity in Poland during the 1970s.

The design by Roch Stefaniak directly refers to the earlier stamp issue “Workers' Protests of June 1976”, emphasizing the historical connection between the workers’ protests and the emergence of organized democratic opposition.

The stamp depicts three symbolic figures representing workers' communities associated with:

🟨 Radom,

🟥 Ursus,

🟦 Płock.

The names of the three cities are incorporated into the figures, highlighting their importance in the events of June 1976. The central motif is a handshake, symbolizing: solidarity, cooperation, mutual assistance, civic responsibility. These values formed the foundation of the Workers' Defense Committee. The sheet consists of 9 postage stamps arranged in a 3 × 3 layout. The repeated image of the three figures creates a visual symbol of community, unity and collective action. The rhythmic arrangement of the design emphasizes cooperation across different social groups and regions. The background is composed of outlines of human figures, referring to the broad social dimension of KOR and the many individuals involved in assisting those affected by repression. The color palette follows the scheme established in the issue “Workers' Protests of June 1976”: 🟨 yellow for Radom, 🟥 red for Ursus, 🟦 blue for Płock. The repeated colors create a coherent historical narrative and highlight the direct link between the June 1976 protests and the creation of KOR. The graphic style is modern and poster-like, inspired by social and civic art.

The First Day Cover features a fragment of the historical document: “Appeal to the Society and the Authorities of the Polish People's Republic” dated 23 September 1976. This document is widely regarded as the founding declaration of KOR and one of the most important testimonies to the beginnings of organized democratic opposition in Poland.

The Workers' Defense Committee was established on 23 September 1976 by a group of intellectuals, social activists and members of opposition circles. Its principal objective was to support people persecuted after the June 1976 protests. KOR provided: legal assistance, financial aid, support for families of arrested workers, information and documentation regarding violations of civil rights. The Committee played a significant role in the development of independent civic structures that later contributed to the emergence of the Solidarity movement. The issue commemorates the values upon which KOR was founded: solidarity, civic responsibility, defense of human rights, mutual support. It also pays tribute to those who contributed to the development of civil society and democratic freedoms in Poland.

The 500th Anniversary of Mazovia's Incorporation into the Kingdom of Poland

On 10 September 2026, Polish Post issued the commemorative stamp issue “500th Anniversary of the Incorporation of Mazovia into the Kingdom of Poland”, prepared in cooperation with the Marshal's Office of the Mazovian Voivodeship in Warsaw.

The issue commemorates one of the most important events in the history of Mazovia and the process of unifying the Polish lands. In 1526, following the death of the last Mazovian dukes of the Piast dynasty, Stanisław I and Janusz III, Mazovia was incorporated into the Kingdom of Poland. This event ended several centuries of political independence of the Duchy of Mazovia and marked an important stage in the consolidation of the Polish state under the Crown.

The stamp features a historical map of Mazovia, showing the territorial divisions of the duchy before its incorporation into the Kingdom of Poland. The design emphasizes the historical nature of the issue and refers to the cartographic traditions and historical documents of the period. The map recalls the rich history of a region that played a significant role in the development of Poland and whose political center was Warsaw, the future capital of the Polish state.

The sheet consists of 6 postage stamps arranged in a 3 × 2 layout. The artwork is inspired by historical documents, seals and symbols associated with late medieval Mazovia.

The central element is the medium heraldic seal of the Mazovian dukes Stanisław I and Janusz III, displaying the heraldic emblems of the Mazovian branch of the Piast dynasty. Enlarged fragments of the seal appear on both sides of the sheet, creating a monumental backdrop for the stamps. The design uses warm shades of red, brown, gold and parchment colours, evoking medieval charters, royal acts and official seals. The sheet tells the story of the end of Mazovia's political independence and its lasting integration into the Crown of the Kingdom of Poland.

The First Day Cover and the commemorative postmark feature a fragment of the heraldic seal of the Mazovian dukes Stanisław I and Janusz III, one of the most recognizable symbols of historic Mazovia.

A traditional gooseberry variety producing pale green-yellow fruit with a delicate flavor. It has been a familiar feature of Polish orchards and home gardens for generations.

The labels and surrounding artwork present all three fruits together in a colorful composition celebrating Poland’s orchard heritage. The design uses fresh, vibrant colors inspired by the summer harvest season.

Poland is among Europe’s leading fruit producers. Raspberries, blackcurrants and gooseberries have long held an important place in Polish agriculture and traditional cuisine. The issue pays tribute to orchard growers and to the horticultural traditions that have shaped the Polish countryside for generations.

       General Tadeusz Rozwadowski

On 15 August 2026, Polish Armed Forces Day, Polish Post issued a commemorative stamp dedicated to General Tadeusz Rozwadowski, one of the most distinguished Polish military commanders and organizers of the Polish Armed Forces. The issue honors a figure whose contribution to rebuilding the Polish Army after independence and to the victory in the Battle of Warsaw in 1920 remains one of the most important achievements in modern Polish military history. The issue was prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of National Defence.

The stamp features an archival photograph of General Tadeusz Rozwadowski from the collections of the Polish Military Historical Bureau (Wojskowe Biuro Historyczne). The image of the general on horseback emphasizes his military service, leadership role and contribution to rebuilding the Polish Army after 1918. The sheet consists of 6 stamps arranged in a 3 × 2 layout. The surrounding artwork creates a broader historical narrative devoted to the General’s life and military career.

The design incorporates:

  • 🎖️ photographs of military decorations awarded to the General,
  • 📝 military documents and operational orders,
  • 📸 archival photographs depicting Rozwadowski during military service,
  • 🎖️ the Order of Virtuti Militari,
  • a portrait from the collections of the National Digital Archives.

The sepia and military-green color palette reinforces the documentary and commemorative character of the issue.

The First Day Cover presents military maneuvers in Volhynia in 1925, involving General Rozwadowski. The image illustrates the training and development of the Polish Army during the interwar period and highlights the General’s role in shaping the armed forces of the Second Polish Republic.

Tadeusz Jordan Rozwadowski (1866–1928) was one of the most prominent Polish military leaders of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He began his military career in the Austro-Hungarian Army, where he gained valuable command and staff experience. After Poland regained independence, he became one of the leading organizers of the Polish Armed Forces and served as: Chief of the Polish General Staff, commander during the Polish-Soviet War, one of the architects of the modern Polish Army. A key chapter of his career was the Battle of Warsaw of 1920. The operational plan was developed through the efforts of several important figures, including: Józef Piłsudski, General Tadeusz Rozwadowski, General Władysław Sikorski, General Maxime Weygand, the operational staff of the Polish Army. Rozwadowski was responsible for preparing and coordinating the plan from the staff perspective, which contributed significantly to the victory over the Red Army. Following the May Coup of 1926, he supported the constitutional authorities. After the conflict, he was arrested and removed from public life, effectively ending his military career. Today, his contribution to the development of the Polish Army and the victory in 1920 is being increasingly recognized.

Polish regional products - redykołka cheese

On 10 August 2026, Polish Post issued another stamp from the “Polish Regional Products” series, dedicated to outstanding examples of Poland’s culinary and cultural heritage. The 2026 issue features Redykołka, a traditional smoked shepherd’s cheese closely associated with the pastoral traditions of Podhale and the Polish Carpathians. The design was created by Agnieszka Sancewicz in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

The stamp depicts a Redykołka cheese shaped like an animal, placed against the background of a traditional wooden cheese mould used by mountain shepherds.

Redykołka is a small smoked cheese produced mainly from sheep’s milk in Podhale and selected areas of the Beskid Mountains. Unlike oscypek, it is smaller in size and has preserved its traditional role as a ceremonial gift presented at the end of the redyk, the seasonal return of sheep from mountain pastures.

The product is protected within the European Union under the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) scheme.

The sheet consists of 9 stamps arranged in a 3 × 3 layout.

The decorative design includes:

🐑 illustrations of sheep grazing on mountain pastures,

🏔️ traditional shepherds’ huts and elements of Carpathian pastoral architecture,

🧑‍🌾 the figure of a shepherd (baca),

🧀 references to traditional cheese making,

the official symbol of the European quality protection scheme.

The sepia-toned composition evokes historical photographs and highlights the centuries-old traditions of mountain shepherding. The sheet celebrates bacowanie (Carpathian shepherding traditions), which has been included on Poland’s National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The name Redykołka derives from redyk, the traditional spring departure and autumn return of sheep from mountain grazing grounds. These cheeses are handmade using traditional wooden moulds and may take the form of: sheep, deer, hearts, birds, spindles and other folk motifs. Redykołka remains one of the most distinctive regional products of the Polish Carpathians and a symbol of mountain culture and hospitality.

       Poland See More

The philatelic issue “Poland See More” highlights two outstanding locations in the Greater Poland region: Kórnik Castle and the Underground Tourist Route of the Kłodawa Salt Mine. These sites represent two complementary aspects of Poland’s heritage: cultural legacy and industrial tradition.

The sheet consists of 8 stamps arranged in an alternating (combinational) layout, featuring two designs that together create a cohesive visual narrative about history, nature and human achievement.

Stamps and featured locations:

🏰 Kórnik Castle – Polish Academy of Sciences Library

Kórnik Castle is one of the most picturesque and best-preserved aristocratic residences in western Poland. Its origins date back to the 15th century, though its current romantic appearance is the result of a 19th-century reconstruction by Count Tytus Działyński, who redesigned it in the English neo-Gothic style.

Over the centuries, the castle was owned by prominent noble families such as the Górka, Czarnkowski, Działyński and Zamoyski families. The interiors still retain authentic furnishings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, providing a rare insight into historical life.

Today, the castle houses the Kórnik Library of the Polish Academy of Sciences, one of the most valuable manuscript and rare book collections in Poland, containing documents of immense historical significance.

Surrounding the castle is the renowned Kórnik Arboretum 🌿, one of the oldest and richest dendrological gardens in Poland, home to approximately 3,500 species of trees and shrubs from around the world. In spring, it attracts thousands of visitors thanks to its spectacular magnolia blossoms.

The castle is also associated with the famous legend of the “White Lady”, believed to be the spirit of Teofila Działyńska, which adds a layer of mystery and cultural storytelling to the site.

➡️ The year 2026 marks a special double anniversary: 600 years of Kórnik Castle 200 years of the Kórnik Library

⛏️ Kłodawa Salt Mine – Underground Tourist Route

The Kłodawa Salt Mine is the largest and deepest active rock salt mine in Poland, located in central Poland. Its deposits were formed approximately 250 million years ago, making them among the oldest natural resources in the region.

Mining operations reach depths of up to 750 meters, while the underground tourist route allows visitors to descend to approximately 600 meters below ground level.

Visitors can explore:

  • vast salt chambers
  • underground corridors and mining tunnels
  • natural and man-made rock formations

A unique feature of the mine is its range of salt colors, from classic white to naturally pink salt, rarely found in other European mines.

The site combines several functions:

industrial 🏭

educational 📚

tourist 🌍

It offers insight into both the geological history of the region and the specialized work of miners.

The sheet is enriched with additional narrative elements:

  • 🎩 portrait of Tytus Działyński, symbolizing cultural heritage
  • 🪨 statue of Skarbnik, the legendary guardian spirit of the mine
  • decorative pattern featuring the outline of Poland and arrows (identity of the series)
  • “Polska Zobacz Więcej” typographic elements encouraging exploration

FDC (Kłodawa): underground chambers

       Pets

The philatelic issue “Domestic Animals” presents selected species and breeds that accompany humans in everyday life, highlighting their diversity, appearance and unique biological and behavioral features.

The block consists of 4 postage stamps, each showing a different domestic animal — from a singing bird, through a small mammal, to a pedigree cat and an exotic aquarium fish. The issue emphasizes the important role of animals as companions in human life 🏡.

Stamps include:

🐦 Red Canary (Serinus canaria)

The red coloration of canaries was achieved through crossbreeding with the red siskin from South America. Today, there are nearly 100 color varieties, ranging from green (wild type) to white, yellow and red, with various patterns. Only males sing, while females produce softer sounds. Canary singing competitions and beauty contests are widely organized.

🐰 Miniature Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus f. domesticus)

Miniature rabbits were first bred over 100 years ago in England. Today, they exist in many forms: white, brown, black, spotted, long‑haired, lionhead and lop‑eared. They weigh up to approximately 3.5 kg and are popular pets, but require careful care, vaccinations and a balanced diet enriched with herbs. Their field of vision reaches up to 300 degrees, allowing them to detect movement very effectively.

🐱 Maine Coon Cat (Felis catus)

First shown at exhibitions in New York in 1860, the Maine Coon is one of the largest domestic cat breeds, with males reaching up to 11 kg. These cats are known for their gentle temperament, but require regular grooming. Their distinctive feature is tufted ears resembling those of a lynx. Despite past myths, the breed is not a hybrid with raccoons or wild animals.

🐟 Discus Fish (Symphysodon discus)

This striking fish originates from the Amazon Basin. It thrives in warm (27–30°C), soft and slightly acidic water. Breeding discus fish requires experience due to their demanding environmental needs. A unique trait is their parental care — fry feed on a secretion from the parents’ skin during early life. Adult fish can grow up to 20 cm in diameter.

The First Day Covers present:

  • a miniature rabbit 🐰
  • a Maine Coon cat 🐱

The images emphasize the individuality and charm of selected domestic animals.

The issue was developed with expert consultation from: Dr. Andrzej Kruszewicz, Director of the Warsaw Zoo.

The workers' protests of June 1976

On June 24, 2026, Polish Post issued a commemorative stamp block titled “Workers’ Protests of June 1976”, which honors one of the most significant episodes in modern Polish history and a symbol of social resistance against the policies of the communist authorities. The protests broke out after the announcement of drastic food price increases and were most intense in Radom, Ursus and Płock. These events became a turning point, contributing to the emergence of democratic opposition movements and strengthening social solidarity.

The block consists of three postage stamps, forming a coherent visual narrative of the protests. The design presents key locations and symbolic moments from each city:

🔥 Radom

  •  the burning building of the Provincial Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party
  • workers moving on a battery‑powered cart

These scenes reflect the dramatic escalation of protests.

🚂 Ursus

  • the blocking of railway traffic

This refers to one of the most symbolic acts of protest — workers stopping trains, disrupting national transport.

🏭 Płock

  • the oil refinery
  • protesting residents

This highlights the participation of industrial workers and local communities.

The FDC features an archival map illustrating the scale of protests across Poland in 1976. The document was created by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and is now preserved in the collections of the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN). The composition combines archival imagery with modern graphic design, creating a documentary‑style narrative. The color palette — dominated by red, black and muted tones — emphasizes the tension and drama of the events.

Cooperation:

  • City of Radom
  • City of Płock
  • Ursus District of Warsaw

Sources:

  • Institute of National Remembrance
  • National Digital Archives

This issue commemorates events that contributed to the rise of democratic opposition and the long-term path toward freedom in Poland. It serves both as a historical document and a tribute to social courage.

       The beauty of Poland

The 2026 issue from the “Beauty of Poland” series is dedicated to Upper Silesia, a historically and culturally complex region located in southern Poland, including cities such as Katowice, Gliwice, Bytom and Zabrze. For centuries shaped by different political influences, Upper Silesia developed a unique identity characterized by multicultural heritage, strong regional traditions and a deep sense of community. During the 19th and 20th centuries, the region became one of Europe’s most important industrial centers, driven by coal mining, metallurgy and energy production. Today, Upper Silesia is undergoing dynamic transformation, where industrial heritage coexists with modern culture, tourism and innovation.

The block consists of 6 postage stamps, each presenting an iconic location that reflects both the industrial past and contemporary character of the region:

       100th Anniversary of Gdynia

The philatelic issue “100th Anniversary of Gdynia” was prepared to celebrate the city’s centenary and created in close cooperation with the Gdynia City Hall. The stamp, sheet and First Day Cover form a coherent jubilee graphic concept, combining contemporary visual identity with the historical heritage of a dynamically developing port city. The central motif of the issue is based on Gdynia’s jubilee poster, which presents, in a synthetic and symbolic way, the city’s transformation – from a settlement built through collective effort into a modern maritime hub.

The stamp features the jubilee poster graphic of the City of Gdynia. The illustration depicts a dense, multi‑layered urban scene in which architecture, port infrastructure and figures symbolizing the city’s builders and residents come together. The composition reflects the energy of development, civic unity and the maritime identity of Gdynia.

The sheet consists of eight postage stamps and a label, fulfilling both a narrative and symbolic role. The composition is organized by additional graphic elements referencing:

⚓maritime and port symbolism (anchor, waves, ships),

⚓the outline of the city of Gdynia,

⚓illustrative details related to port development, transport and modernist architecture.

The label is an integral part of the design and strengthens the jubilee message by showcasing the 100th anniversary logo alongside the city’s outline. The entire sheet emphasizes Gdynia’s identity as a city open to the sea and the world.

The graphic design of the FDC is based on archival photographs from the National Digital Archives, documenting key stages in the construction and development of Gdynia – from the early formation of the port, through urban growth, to the dynamic expansion of the interwar period. The photographs are combined with a modern light‑blue graphic setting and a wave‑patterned background evoking the Baltic Sea and the city’s maritime character. The outline of Gdynia, integrated into the photographic collage, creates a visual dialogue between past and present.

The postmark design is based on the outline of the city of Gdynia, complemented by the name of the issue and the first day of circulation. Its minimalist, contemporary form completes the jubilee visual identity.

       Vanishing Professions

In a world that is changing faster than ever, traditional crafts are becoming invaluable testimonies of history, skills, and the everyday life of past generations. Professions that only recently were an integral part of villages and small towns are gradually disappearing, replaced by mass production and modern technologies.

The philatelic issue “Vanishing Professions” recalls trades whose foundation was manual labor, time‑consuming craftsmanship, and knowledge passed down from generation to generation. Each profession represents not only a technique, but also a story about life, the relationship between humans and nature 🌾, patience, precision and respect for the work of human hands.

Preserving the memory of these occupations is a vital element of protecting intangible cultural heritage. Although many of them are fading away with the pace of modern life, they still survive in museums 🏛️, archives, and in the hands of passionate practitioners who cultivate traditional skills.

The issue presents four traditional crafts illustrated through archival and contemporary photographic materials, supplemented with details of finished products and characteristic tools of the trade. Each profession is distinguished by a separate color field and title:

Basketry (Wickerwork) 🧺

Wire Craft 🔧

Lace‑making 🪡

Embroidery 🧵

The layout harmoniously combines black‑and‑white documentary photography with colorful close‑ups of handcrafted items, forming a visual narrative of the creative process — from raw material to finished object.

Embroidery – beauty stitched into thread 🧵

One of the oldest forms of textile decoration, known since ancient civilizations such as Egypt and China. It involves decorating fabric using needle and thread. Common techniques include cross‑stitch, flat stitch, Richelieu, and bead embroidery. In Poland, important embroidery centers include Podhale, Kashubia and Kurpie, known for their distinctive regional patterns.

Wire Craft – mastery of repair 🔧

Originating in Central Europe, particularly Slovakia, where it developed in the 18th century. Initially used for repairing household vessels, it later evolved into a form of applied art. Techniques include wrapping, twisting and weaving wire. In Poland, wire craft traditions are mainly associated with the Carpathian regions, including Podkarpacie and the Tatra area.

Basketry – the strength of nature in human hands 🧺

A craft with prehistoric origins, using natural materials such as willow, straw and reed to make baskets, mats and containers. Techniques include cross weaving, spiral and rib weaving. Well‑known basketry centers in Poland include Rudnik nad Sanem (the “capital of Polish wickerwork”), as well as Mazovia and Greater Poland.

Lace‑making – delicacy woven into thread 🪡

Developed in Europe in the 16th century, especially in Belgium and France. It involves creating openwork patterns by hand using thread. The main techniques are bobbin lace and needle lace, requiring exceptional precision and patience. In Poland, notable centers include Koniaków (crocheted lace) and Bobowa (traditional bobbin lace).

The graphic materials used in the philatelic issue “Vanishing Professions” and its accompanying materials come from the collections of: The Historical Museum in Bielsko‑Biała, the Ethnographic Museum in Kraków, the National Museums in Kraków, Szczecin and Warsaw, the National Digital Archives, PAP S.A., FORUM Polish Photographers’ Agency, and the company Polskie Plecionkarstwo.

       Szlachetna Paczka - Noble Gift

The new issue by Polish Post features the logo of the “Szlachetna Paczka” charity campaign – a red background with a white heart ❤️ and the inscription “szlachetna PACZKA”. This unique stamp combines philately with the idea of helping those in need. The issue is complemented by an FDC envelope with a winter-themed design, showing people carrying gifts 🎁 and the slogan: “We change the world for good”, also included in the postmark graphic.

The stamp was created in close cooperation with the WIOSNA Association, organizer of the “Szlachetna Paczka” campaign, which has been changing lives of thousands of families in Poland 🌍.

Szlachetna Paczka is a nationwide program of smart help, organized by the WIOSNA Association based in Kraków. For 25 years, it has been connecting people who want to truly change the world for good 🌍, reaching families and individuals in the most difficult life situations. The program operates thanks to tens of thousands of volunteers across Poland. In autumn 🍂, they knock on the doors of those in need 🚪, learn their stories, meet families, and decide whether to include them in the project. Together, they define specific needs, the fulfillment of which can become the beginning of lasting change. The collected stories and lists of needs are entered into the online Family Database, which opens every year in mid-November 📅.

In 2025, the opening of the Family Database is scheduled for November 15. Donors from all over Poland, after reading the families’ stories, choose those they want to support by preparing packages 🎁 that meet real needs. The culmination of these efforts is the Weekend of Miracles, which this year will take place on December 13 and 14. Donors deliver packages to specially prepared warehouses, from where volunteers transport them to families. It is an extraordinary, emotional moment ❤️ – the meeting of goodness and the grand finale of the joint work of thousands of people involved in the project. In 2025, Szlachetna Paczka celebrates its 25th anniversary 🎉. For a quarter of a century, it has been raising awareness of the needs of the most vulnerable and inviting everyone to co-create a world where more good happens.

The program’s slogan – “We change the world for good” – remains its most important promise and hallmark.

Postmarkis stylized as the badge of the 1st Armored Division commanded by Gen. Maczek, highlighting the unit’s symbolism. The design uses sepia and orange tones, giving the composition a historical and documentary character. In the background, steel structures of the tanks emphasize the industrial nature of the Wilhelmshaven port.

In late April 1945, Gen. Stanisław Maczek’s 1st Armored Division entered the German naval port of Wilhelmshaven, one of the most important Kriegsmarine bases. Polish soldiers accepted the surrender of a garrison of over 30,000 troops, including sailors and port personnel. The capture of Wilhelmshaven was one of the final acts of the division’s wartime campaign, symbolizing the triumph of Polish armored forces from Normandy to northern Germany.

The issues of “1st Armored Division - Odyssey of Freedom” highlight the heroic combat route of the unit, which fought from France through Belgium to the Netherlands.

The issue sheets will be included in the subscription for the sheets.

       Christmas

Polish Post introduces a new stamp issue titled “Christmas,” inspired by the unique Lower Silesian Pattern – a contemporary regional decorative motif that combines tradition with modernity.

The stamps feature photographs of Christmas baubles decorated with designs derived from the cultural heritage of Lower Silesia. Below the baubles, the title of the issue “Christmas” and the inscription “Lower Silesian Pattern” are displayed. Along the bottom edge, the word “POLSKA” and the respective denominations appear: ECONOMIC S, PRIORITY S, and 10 PLN.

The issue is complemented by three FDC envelopes and two postmarks, whose graphics are entirely based on the concept of the Lower Silesian Pattern.

The Lower Silesian Bauble is a unique handmade glass ornament decorated using a technique reminiscent of wax painting on eggs. The decorator applies acrylic dot by dot to create compositions of folk motifs: lilies, garlands, parzenice, windmills, flowers, suns, rosettes, and fans. These patterns reflect the ethnographic richness of Lower Silesia and the history of settlers who arrived after 1945.

The inspiration for this issue comes from the Christmas Bauble Museum in Milicz, located in the former glass ornament factory – once the largest bauble manufactory in Poland, operating from the 1950s until 2008. Milicz baubles, made entirely by hand, were exported worldwide, mainly to the USA and Japan, with Walt Disney among the recipients. The museum’s collection includes about 6,000 pieces, from the oldest baubles of the late 20th century to the newest from 2007.

To celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Mariacka Parish in Kraków, Poczta Polska issued a commemorative philatelic sheet that honors one of Poland’s most iconic churches — St. Mary's Basilica.

Located on Kraków’s Main Market Square, the basilica dates back to the 13th century and took its current Gothic form in the 14th century. Stamps depict a photograph of St. Mary's Basilica against the Kraków skyline.        Eastern Carpathians

A series of postage stamps dedicated to the Eastern Carpathians and the Bieszczady National Park showcases the unique natural beauty of this region – from rare insect species to majestic mountain landscapes.

The stamps feature:

🪲Alpine longhorn beetle (Rosalia alpina)

It depicts a characteristic insect from the longhorn beetle family, with blue-gray coloring and black spots. The Alpine longhorn beetle is a protected species, found mainly in the old beech forests of the Carpathians, and in Poland, most numerous in the Bieszczady Mountains. It is a symbol of the region's biodiversity and natural heritage.

🏞️Połonina Caryńska

It shows the picturesque landscape of one of the most beautiful mountain pastures in the Bieszczady Mountains – Połonina Caryńska. It stretches between Ustrzyki Górne and Brzegi Górne, offering panoramic views of mountain ranges and valleys. The mountain pasture is known for its rich flora, including rare species of alpine plants, and for its exceptional conditions for hiking and nature observation.

The FDC envelope features a beautiful bear. The Bieszczady Mountains are home to the brown bear (Ursus arctos), the largest land predator in Poland. This animal is extremely intelligent and cautious, avoiding contact with humans. The Bieszczady Mountains are one of the most important habitats for bears in the country, offering them vast, wild areas full of forests, streams, and mountain pastures. Bears play a key role in the ecosystem – they regulate the populations of other species and help spread seeds. Encountering them in the wild is rare, but their presence adds an aura of true wilderness to the Bieszczady Mountains.

This issue was prepared in cooperation with the Bieszczady National Park.

       Fruits of our orchards

The new series of postage stamps depicts the most characteristic fruit tree species and their crops in Polish orchards:

🍏 Malinowa Oberlandzka apple tree – a juicy red apple and apple blossom.

🍒 Szklanka Polska cherry tree – red, shiny fruit on a branch and white cherry blossom.

🍐 Faworytka pear tree – a classic pear with yellow and red skin and pear blossoms.

🍑Węgierka Zwykła plum tree – blue-purple plums and white plum blossoms.

The frame of the sheet features the flower of each fruit, and the position of the sector is marked at the top of the frame. The FDC envelope design features a collage of photos depicting fruit trees. The postmark design features the title of the issue, “Fruits of Our Orchards,” with fruits incorporated into the letters.

The issue was created in cooperation with Mr. Grzegorz Hodun, an expert from the Institute of Horticulture - National Research Institute in Skierniewice, who is also the author of the photos included in the project and the text below.

The development of fruit growing in Poland, which was particularly dynamic in the second half of the 20th century, led to the creation of large commercial orchards. Fruit from such orchards dominates stores today, but fruit from traditional (home) orchards can still be found at local markets. It is these fruits that the older generation associates with “fruit from our orchards.”

The varieties found in traditional orchards have been cultivated for many decades. Most of them are frost-resistant, not very susceptible to disease, and fairly easy to grow. The fruits of these varieties cannot be confused with each other, as they differ significantly in appearance and taste, which is memorable for years. Importantly, almost all of them are suitable for both direct consumption and processing – to this day, for example, fully ripe, well-grown Węgierka Zwykła fruit and Węgierka jam are second to none.

Varieties grown in traditional orchards constitute a valuable cultural heritage and genetic material that significantly increases biodiversity. Therefore, the need to preserve them has been recognized. As a result, since 2007, traditional orchards with old fruit tree varieties have been included in successive agri-environmental programs. The financial support offered under these programs to farmers interested in running traditional orchards creates opportunities to save old varieties and preserve environmentally friendly fruit tree cultivation methods.

Varieties from old, surviving traditional orchards are also protected from extinction in field collections of various public institutions. The largest of these operates within the framework of the Protection of Plant Genetic Resources of Horticultural Plants at the Institute of Horticulture – National Research Institute in Skierniewice. This collection currently contains over 1,000 genotypes, the vast majority of which are old apple varieties.

The issue sheets will be included in the subscription for the sheets.

       100 years of Polish Radio

The stamp shows the logo of the 100th anniversary of Polish Radio. The FDC envelope features the anniversary slogan “We make sounds for listening” and a pattern and logo, which is also the title of the issue. The postmark features the anniversary signet. The issue was created in close cooperation with the applicant, Polish Radio. All the basic elements of the issue come from the “Brand Book” of the 100th anniversary of Polish Radio. The first radio broadcast was aired from the Polish Radio Technical Society station in Warsaw on February 1, 1925, on medium wave (385 m) from the studio at 25 Narbutta Street in Warsaw. It was a trial program and a technical experiment that preceded the official establishment of “Polish Radio” as a limited liability company on August 18, 1925. The founders of the station were Zygmunt Chamiec and Tadeusz Sułowski. The company had a monopoly license to broadcast radio programs throughout Poland.

TPolish Radio began regular broadcasting on April 18, 1926, at 5 p.m. with the words: “Hello, hello, Polish Radio Warsaw, frequency 480,” spoken by its first announcer, Janina Sztompkówna. The first broadcast was devoted to the music of Fryderyk Chopin. Polish Radio was based in the building of the Land Credit Society on Kredytowa Street, and the signal was broadcast using an antenna located at 29 Narbutta Street. In 1927, programs were broadcast from a fort on Racławicka Street. In 1929, the station moved to a converted building of the Trade and Office Workers' Union at 25 Zielna Street. In 1927, Polish Radio was the first in the world to start an international exchange of programs. In 1929, Polish Radio received a new license.

In its early days, the radio program was broadcast only for a few hours in the evening. In the second half of the 1930s, it was already broadcast throughout the day, from 6:15 a.m. to midnight. Most of the airtime was devoted to music. Polish Radio maintained its own choirs, chamber ensembles, and orchestras. The most famous was the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Warsaw. From October 3, 1949, Polish Radio broadcast two programs throughout Poland. On November 1, 1957, the Experimental Studio began operating—one of several sound and electronic music studios in the world, working for composers, radio, television, and film.

On March 1, 1958, Program III began broadcasting, initially only in Warsaw; it was not until 1962 that it became a program broadcast throughout Poland. “Trójka” offered a different model than the other two channels, targeting young people, especially students. On December 31, 1993, Polskie Radio became a joint-stock company owned by the State Treasury: the State Treasury company “Polskie Radio S.A.” was entered into the commercial register of the District Court for the capital city of Warsaw. On October 1, 2013, Polish Radio also began broadcasting its program in DAB+ technology.

       Polish Madonnas

This year's series presents two unique images of Mary:

⛪Our Lady of Consolation from Łososina Dolna – a painting from the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul in Łososina Dolna. Painted in tempera on three linden boards, it depicts Mary with the Child in the Hodegetria style – as the One who shows the way to Christ. For several centuries, this painting was located in a former medieval church, which was demolished in 2003 (it was transported and reconstructed in the Sądecki Ethnographic Park in Nowy Sącz). After conservation and restoration to its original appearance, the painting returned to the parish and was placed in the side altar of the new church. The image is considered a source of comfort and spiritual support for the faithful.

⛪Our Lady of Tears from Dzierzgów – the painting of the Virgin Mary with Child in the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Dzierzgów was brought here in 1651 by Jan Stanisław Myszkowski, who, according to tradition, saved it during the Battle of Beresteczko. Made in the Byzantine-Ukrainian style, it depicts Mary as Hodegetria – a guide pointing to Jesus. On July 22, 1664, the painting began to “cry” – tears flowed from Mary's eyes. The phenomenon repeated itself several times, the last time on July 26. The witnesses were clergy and residents of nearby villages. The Bishop of Krakow, Andrzej Trzebicki, appointed a commission which allowed the cult of Our Lady of Tears to develop. The event was described by the poet Wespazjan Kochowski.

       Cultivated plants

A unique postage stamp issued by the Polish Post Office, depicting an ear of triticale - a cereal that is a cross between wheat and rye, of the Grenado variety.

The proposer of the theme and substantive consultant of the issue was the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, which selected cereals for the first stamp of the series - and as the breeding variety of the representative of this genus - triticale of the Grenado variety.

The goal of breeding triticale was to create a plant with good grain quality and fertility, similar to wheat, while at the same time with disease resistance and tolerance to adverse environmental conditions, like rye. Modern methods used in triticale breeding in Poland have resulted in major varietal advances. Due to such great achievements and the largest cultivated area, triticale - especially winter triticale - is considered a Polish specialty in the world. One of the most important varieties of triticale from Polish breeding is - shown on the stamp - GRENADO - one of the first short-season varieties, it combines the features of excellent fertility, resistance to hatching and diseases caused by fungi, and very good winter hardiness. Equally important features are its tolerance to drought and weaker soil conditions. The “ Cultivated Plants” series celebrates the richness of Polish agriculture and its importance to the economy.🌾

500th anniversary of the Prussian homage - folder with unperforated block

Issued in an edition of 4,000 pieces, the folder contains an unperforated block of the issue "500th anniversary of the Prussian homage", put into circulation on 10th April 2025.

The stamp and the FDC envelope FDC depict a fragment of Jan Matejko's painting “The Prussian Homage”.

The painting shows the moment when the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order, Albrecht Hohenzollern, paid homage to King Sigismund I the Old on April 10, 1525 in Krakow's Main Square. Albrecht received from the hands of the king a pennant with the coat of arms of Ducal Prussia as a symbol of fiefdom. The sign of dependence on the King and Crown was symbolized by the letter S (Sigismundus) on the chest of the black Prussian eagle and the crown on its neck. This was an event of great political and symbolic significance, ending the existence of the Teutonic State and transforming it into the secular Duchy of Prussia - the first Protestant state in Europe. Jan Matejko's painting “The Prussian Homage” is from the collection of the Wawel Royal Castle.

       EUROPA National Archaeological Discoveries

The stamp shows a photo of the entrance to the defensive settlement of the archaeological reserve of the Biskupin Archaeological Museum. The FDC envelope graphic shows artifacts found at the settlement in the foreground and in the background a photo of the settlement taken from the perspective of the lake surface. In the graphic of the postmark - a fragment of a brooch.

The EUROPA 2025 issue is about archaeological discoveries on the territory of individual PostEurop member countries. To select an archaeological object deserving to be presented in the issue's graphics, Polish Post asked Mr. Prof. Marian Rębkowski - Director of the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Mr. Prof. Rębkowski indicated the Archeological Museum in Biskupin. In cooperation with the Museum, from which all the materials used in the issue's graphics originated, the final design of the issue was created. The project has gained approval from PostEurop and will represent Poland in the competition for the most beautiful stamp of the "EUROPA" issue, which will begin as early as May 9, 2025.

The Archaeological Museum in Biskupin is one of the largest and most recognizable archaeological reserves in Europe. Thanks to its exceptional value for Poland's cultural heritage, it has been declared a Monument of History. It covers an area of about 38 hectares and contains numerous traces of ancient settlement - from the Stone Age to the early Middle Ages. The most famous of these is the site on the peninsula of Biskupinskie Lake, where there are remains of a defensive settlement from the turn of the Bronze and Iron Ages (about 2,700 years ago). The history of the discovery and first excavations dates back to the 1930s. At present, the museum's grounds include reconstructions of prehistoric and early medieval settlements, a petting zoo or an exhibition pavilion.

1000th anniversary of the coronation of Bolesław Chrobry

The stamp presents a fragment of Jan Matejko's painting “Coronation of the First King of Poland 1001” from 1889, showing the moment of the coronation of Boleslaw Chrobry as king in 1025. The painting comes from the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw; the photograph of the painting was taken by Piotr Ligier. The FDC envelope depicts the crown of Boleslaw Chrobry, drawn by the graphic artist. The date stamp design also features the crown of Boleslaw Chrobry.

Boleslaw I Chrobry (the Great) (b. 967, d. June 17, 1025) - ruler of Poland from the Piast dynasty from 992-1025, prince of Poland from 992 and first crowned king of Poland (from 1025), also prince of Bohemia as Boleslaw IV from 1003-1004. He was the son of Mieszko I, prince of Poland, and Dobrawa, a Czech princess. Neither the place nor the exact date of Boleslav's birth is known. He took the reign in 992, ousting his stepmother Oda and half-brothers shortly thereafter. He supported the Christianization of Poland and the missionary expeditions of Wojciech Slavnikovic, bishop of Prague, and Bruno of Kwerfurt. The martyrdom of the former (997) and his imminent canonization gave rise to the Gniezno congress (1000), during which a Polish archbishopric (church metropolis) was established in Gniezno and bishoprics in Krakow, Wroclaw and Kolobrzeg, and Emperor Otto III confirmed the independence of the Polish state and its ruler. After the death of Otto III (1002), Boleslaw found himself in conflict with his successor Henry II, waging protracted wars with him for dominion over Swabia and Bohemia (1002-1018), ending with the Peace of Bautzen (1018) and the ceding of Milsko and Lusatia to Poland. Around 1003 Chrobry also annexed Moravia, giving Poland control of the Moravian Gate and access to the Danube.

In 1018, Boleslaw I expeditioned into Ruthenia and captured its capital Kyiv, installing his son-in-law Sviatopolk I on the Ruthenian throne and taking large spoils from there. On his way back from Kyiv, he regained for the Polish state the strategic Cherniviv Grody, an important crossroads of trade routes lost in 981. For his last years, he co-ruled with his son Mieszko II Lambert. Just before his death (1025), he crowned himself the first king of Poland. The nickname Chrobry was given to him during the reign of his son, Mieszko II, and denotes a man of valor, bravery and courage; later he was also referred to by the nickname Great.

World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan

The World Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai - the world's largest and most important economic and promotional event - will begin on April 13, 2025. Poland's participation in the event is aimed at strengthening its international image, establishing new economic contacts and promoting Polish science, culture and tourism. The Polish Investment and Trade Agency, under the supervision of the Ministry of Development and Technology, is responsible for the project.

The stamp shows a visualization of the Polish Pavilion. In the graphic of the FDC envelope the keynote of the Polish presence at the Expo: Poland. Heritage that drives the future and floral elements. In the graphic of the postmark - referring to the architecture of the block of the Polish Pavilion as seen from a bird's eye view - "waves of creativity", which is one of the guiding graphics of the Polish presence at the Expo

The arena for the country's presentation will be the Polish Pavilion with an area of nearly 1,000 m². The architecture of the pavilion represents the main slogan telling the story of the “creativity gene” of Poles and its value for the future of societies. The Polish Pavilion will be located near the Water Zone, belonging to one of the sub-themes of the Exhibition, which is “Saving Lives.” The architectural design is based on the use of wood, and has an organic form thanks to curves and arches. The form of the block is meant to evoke the association of the spreading wave of creativity and innovation of Poles - borders do not stand in the way of innovative ideas spreading far and influencing distant areas, and knowledge gained abroad returning to the gravitational center of the nation. The design of the expressive wooden facade, built using the traditional “Kigumi Koho” wood joining technique, is a nod to Polish and Japanese traditional architecture. The pavilion is intended to be accessible to different audiences and to be free of “barriers.”

A companion to the multifaceted journey through the exposition of the Polish Pavilion will be the figure of Frederic Chopin. You will also be able to listen to the works of the prominent Polish composer during planned cyclical piano recitals in the Pavilion's concert hall. A Polish-Spanish duo - Alicja Kubicka and Borja Martínez - is responsible for developing the architectural concept.

The issue was created in close cooperation and on the basis of graphic materials from the Applicant - the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.

500th anniversary of the Prussian homage

The postmark design features an image of Sigismund I the Old.

Jan Matejko's painting “The Prussian Homage” is from the collection of the Wawel Royal Castle.

       80 years of “Tygodnik Powszechny”

The stamp shows a typographically diverse inscription: 80 LAT “TYGODNIKA POWSZECHNEGO”, referring to the variable fonts used in the publishing house. Their arrangement is dictated by the composition symbolizing the diversity of styles of the publishing house over the years.

The FDC envelope features an illustration of a stylized figure with a halo - a reference to the Christian values that are part of the magazine's identity. Instead of eyes, there is an infinity sign - symbolizing the permanence of the weekly's ideas and mission.

The postmark includes the name “Tygodnik Powszechny” in a distinctive typographic style and information about the magazine's 80th anniversary.

The Polish Post pays tribute to one of the most important Polish opinion-forming magazines - “Tygodnik Powszechny,” which has shaped public debate and is a symbol of independent thought in Poland since 1945.

1st Polish Armoured Division - Odyssey of Liberty

The stamp shows soldiers of the 1st Armored Division on a tank, greeted after liberation by residents of the Belgian border areas. The FDC envelope presents a photo of Soldiers of the 1st Armored Division on the streets of liberated Lotenhulle (Belgium) in September 1944.

The postmark design features a graphic depicting Gen. Stanislaw Maczek.

The 1st Armored Division under the command of General Stanislaw Maczek took part in the fighting in western Europe after the Allied landings in Normandy in 1944. After successful operations in northern France, the division moved on to Belgium, where it fought a number of important battles. One of the most significant moments was the liberation of Lotenhulle. The stamp commemorates not only the military actions themselves, but also symbolizes the fighting spirit, sacrifice and cooperation between Poles and allies in the pursuit of freedom. Often on such symbols there is also a reference to the brotherhood of arms and the memory of fallen soldiers.

The stamp is thus a tribute to the 1st Armored Division, which played a key role in the liberation of Belgium and contributed to ending the German occupation of the region.

       Postcrossing

Postcrossing - is a hobby and social network that allows its registered members to send and receive postcards from around the world. The project assumes that for every card sent and registered, a user receives a card from another member of the postcrossing community.

The project was launched in 2005 in Portugal, with the main idea being to create an online platform to connect people from all over the world - regardless of their age, gender, race, beliefs, faith - through postcards. To date, the project has sent more than 80 million postcards.

This is the second philatelic issue of the Polish Post dedicated to postcrossing (the first was realized in 2016).

The issue was created in cooperation with the creators of the platform - Mr. Paulo Magalhaes and Ms. Ana Campos.

       Christmas

On the stamps, the author Agata Tobolczyk, in an original way, presented graphics referring to the symbolism of holidays celebrated in December around the world regardless of location and religious preferences.

1. The PRIORITY S stamp depicts a traditional Christmas bauble.

2. The ECONOMIC S stamp depicts a traditional Christmas tree.

The FDC envelope shows holiday motifs, while the postmark contains the issue title, date and place of introduction in a snowflake.

In the northern hemisphere, the tradition of dressing a Christmas tree was known in our neighbors, the German countries as early as the 16th century. The custom of dressing a Christmas tree traveled from Germany to France, and then, thanks to Britain's Queen Victoria, spread to the rest of Europe and America..

In Poland, the custom of dressing a Christmas tree appeared in the 19th century. The aforementioned tree is a symbol of life and rebirth, colorful lights symbolize warding off evil powers, nuts - prosperity, good luck, apples (replaced in the 20th century by baubles and other ornaments) - health and vitality, and the chain for some is a symbol of family ties, and for others a symbol of the serpent tempter from the biblical paradise.

Nowadays, tradition and modernity are increasingly combined due to increasing globalization. The Christmas tree is no longer decorated on Christmas Eve morning. In many homes, shopping malls, city squares decorated Christmas trees appear in early December and earlier. Today, the Christmas tree is not attributed as much symbolism as in the past.

Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw

The stamp shows a visualization of the eastern front wall of the new building of the Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw.

The stamp's launch coincides with the opening of the Museum's new headquarters. New York-based Thomas Phifer and Partners, working with architects from the APA Wojciechowski studio, is responsible for its silhouette. The museum, heralded by all successive Warsaw city presidents since 2004, has found its new home at the Central Square (formerly Defilad Square) under construction in the center of Warsaw.

Interestingly, more than 100 new trees and thousands of shrubs will be planted around the Museum, as well as lawns and new alleys. Their irregular shape leading up to the Museum will highlight its massing, while mapping the network of former streets and the outline of buildings that were demolished after World War II to make room for the Palace of Culture and Science and the current Defilad Square. Once the new building is put into use, the hitherto accumulated collections of the Museum, established 20 years ago, will be transferred there. The new premises will house existing and new research programs in the history of recent art. As before, the Museum will collect works by contemporary artists and organize exhibitions.

The issue sheet will be included in the subscription for the sheets.

       World Mental Health Day

The stamp presents a graphic symbolically emphasizing the importance of mental health in people's lives, with the issue title “World Mental Health Day” in the lower left corner, and the inscription in the lower right corner: POLAND and the value designation: PLN 4.90.

In the issue's graphic, the author, Bożydar Grozdew, symbolically depicted relationships in the work environment - which are increasingly complex and diverse due to increasing globalization. In the stamp's graphic, in its central part, we see two figures - a woman and a man with a marked common part connecting them, metaphorically representing the substantive cooperation of professionals.

An interesting graphic idea is the superimposition of the date graphic showing a single male profile on the figure of a man in the envelope graphic surrounded by other people in this way the intra-psychic processes of the individual are symbolically emphasized.

World Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10 since 1992, is an international day for global mental health education, raising awareness and supporting the fight against social stigma. Every year on this day, awareness-raising activities are conducted around the world to draw attention to mental health and its impact on our lives. Each year a different theme is chosen for the celebration - in 2024 it reads: (“It is Time to Prioritize Mental Health in the Workplace”).
