The philatelic issue dedicated to Andrzej Wajda honors one of the most outstanding figures of world cinema and a director who profoundly shaped Polish and European film culture.
The project was developed in cooperation with and with expert consultation from:
Prof. Krystyna Zachwatowicz‑Wajda, the Kyoto‑Kraków Foundation of Andrzej Wajda and Krystyna Zachwatowicz‑Wajda, the Polish Filmmakers Association, as well as the Polish Parliament (Sejm and Senate).
The stamp features an artistic portrait of Andrzej Wajda with a film camera, based on a photograph taken in 1974 by Andrzej Zbraniecki (PAP) during the shooting of the film “The Promised Land”.
The bold red‑and‑black composition emphasizes:

✔️the director’s distinctive artistic style.
