To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, the Polish Post has issued a commemorative postage stamp with a denomination of PLN 4.90.
The stamp features a symbolic graphic depicting a soldier greeting two children in an open doorway. The scene symbolizes a return to a life of peace, hope and closeness after years of separation and the nightmare of war.
The graphic background of the sheet is kept in subdued colors with a motif of doves - a symbol of peace, but also of freedom and hope.
The FDC envelope depicts an excerpt from the historic newspaper “Soldier's Gazette” of May 8, 1945 with the headline “WINNING! END OF THE WAR WITH GERMANY!”, which captures the excitement surrounding the announcement of the surrender of the Third Reich. This is a direct reference to the authentic media coverage of the day the war ended in Europe.
A commemorative postmark - designed in the form of a circle with an inscribed motif of flying doves, which symbolizes peace, freedom and reconciliation. It bears the inscription: “80th Anniversary of the End of World War II - 08.05.2025 - Warsaw 1”.
This edition has a commemorative and collector's character, being both a tribute to the victims and a testimony to the memory of the events that changed the course of world history.
