Poland 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo Souvenir sheet no. 42, cancelled
Poland 1964 – Block No. 42 was issued on the occasion of the XVIII Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. The block contains four stamps commemorating Poland's participation in the games, with dynamic illustrations of athletes and Olympic symbols.
- Orange stamps (5.60 zł) – depict an athlete performing a high jump.
- Blue stamps (6.50 zł) – show a diver in mid-jump.
All stamps feature the word “POLSKA” (Poland), the symbols of the five Olympic rings, and the text:
“XVIII IGRZYSKA OLIMPIJSKIE TOKIO 1964 R.” (18th Olympic Games Tokyo 1964).
At the bottom of the block there are also inscriptions in Japanese, which emphasizes the international character of the issue. The block is canceled, which increases its collector's value. The block numbers are located on the sides.
This block is not only a sports souvenir, but also an example of Polish commercial art from the 1960s, combining aesthetics with the idea of Olympism.
